πŸ’™ Asthma Awareness & Blue Shirt Day – 5th May πŸ’™

May 5th, 2026

Join us in supporting Asthma Awareness by wearing blue this 5th May and helping to raise awareness of a condition that affects many people across Aotearoa.

Asthma is a significant health issue in New Zealand:
β€’ Around 1 in 8 New Zealanders (over 615,000 people) take medication for asthma
β€’ Approximately 99,000 tamariki (children) are living with asthma
β€’ Around 7,500 children are hospitalised each year due to asthma
β€’ Sadly, around 96 Kiwis die from asthma each year
β€’ Asthma costs the New Zealand healthcare system around $1.2 billion annually

As we head into the cooler months, it’s especially important to make sure your asthma is well managed. Cold air, seasonal illnesses, and indoor allergens can all trigger symptoms, making winter a challenging time for those with asthma.

We encourage you to book an appointment with one of our clinicians for an asthma review. This is a great opportunity to:
β€’ Check your current symptoms and control
β€’ Review your inhaler technique
β€’ Update your asthma action plan
β€’ Ensure your medications are right for you
Taking a proactive approach now can help you stay well, avoid flare-ups, and breathe easier throughout winter.
